The U.S. Embassy in Panama has announced that representatives from the Regional Federal Benefits Office will be visiting Panama City to provide services related to U.S. Social Security benefits. These services are available for beneficiaries or individuals with questions about their benefits.
The representatives will be present at two locations: the Panama American Center, located at Ave. Jacinto Palacios Cobos, La Plaza at Ciudad del Saber, and the U.S. Embassy Consular Section in Panama City.
At the Panama American Center, services will be offered on March 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and on March 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. At the U.S. Embassy Consular Section, services will be available on March 11, 12, and 13 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Walk-in services are available without an appointment; however, visitors should be prepared for potential waiting times depending on visitor numbers.
For those applying for Social Security benefits, it is necessary to bring original documents along with legible copies of birth certificates and passports for each applicant. If applying for auxiliary or survivor’s benefits, marriage certificates and spouse’s death certificates (if applicable) are also required.
For Social Security Number (SSN) card applications under age 12, applicants need a valid U.S. passport or consular report of birth abroad along with a completed SS-5FS form signed by the applicant.
Applicants over age 12 must attend an in-person interview and bring similar documentation as well as proof of residency abroad through various records such as school letters or medical records.
The Foreign Enforcement Questionnaire (FEQ), also known as "proof of life" forms mailed last year to individuals whose Social Security number ends with digits between 00 through 49 registered in Panama, will also be accepted during this visit.
Individuals whose benefits have been suspended due to incomplete forms are encouraged to attend this outreach event.
