The U.S. Embassy in Tunis has announced the opening of applications for the 2025 Foreign National Student Intern Program (FNSIP). This program offers local students a chance to gain work experience in a diplomatic setting. The internships are not paid, and no future employment rights are associated with them.

Internships will be held at the U.S. Embassy in Tunis, with duties varying by section, such as Public Diplomacy or Management. To qualify, applicants must meet several criteria: they must be at least 18 years old, citizens or permanent residents of Tunisia, enrolled full-time in university studies, returning to their studies after the internship, in good academic standing, available from June 2025 for about 10-12 weeks during summer, and able to work 20-30 hours per week. Computer skills are also required.

The embassy will consider students from various fields including humanities, law, social sciences, business, economics, political science, computer science, and international affairs. Other factors like conflict of interest and residency status will also be considered.

Specific sections within the embassy have additional requirements. For example:

- The Public Affairs Section requires interns to assist with alumni databases and event planning.

- The Protocol Section involves organizing events and managing diplomatic notes.

- The Procurement Section focuses on VAT reconciliation tasks.

- The Political Section compiles reports on political developments.

- The Consular Section updates public information and reorganizes files.

- The Financial Management Center handles voucher payments and records management.

- The Medical Unit schedules appointments and assists with administrative tasks.

- The Human Resources Office manages recruitment databases and insurance claims.

- Customer Service involves housing inspections and client liaison.

- Information Technology supports equipment inventory and troubleshooting.

Applications must include a Statement of Interest Form, official transcripts showing good academic standing (not needing translation), and written permission from the educational institution. These should be submitted via email to Tunisapplicants@state.gov by February 28, 2025.

"Former FNSIP interns have the right to reapply," states the announcement. "Candidates can suggest more than one section to apply for."

Only complete applications received by the deadline will be considered for interviews. Short-listed candidates will be notified.
