U.S. citizens residing overseas are being urged to return their voted ballots promptly as the 2024 U.S. elections approach. With November 5 set as election day, many states require that ballots reach local election officials by the time polls close.

For those who have not yet received their absentee ballot despite having registered and requested it before the deadline, there is an option to complete and submit a Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB). This can be done through the website www.FVAP.gov. "Your FWAB will only be counted if your regular ballot does not reach local election officials by your state’s deadline," emphasizes the message, ensuring voters that their vote will not be duplicated.

The U.S. Embassy in Bratislava recommends dropping off ballots no later than October 4 for those choosing this method of return. Voters must ensure their ballots are addressed correctly and bear appropriate postage. The embassy also notes that some states allow electronic submission of voted ballots, or alternatively, they can be sent via express courier service at the voter's expense.

For assistance with voting procedures or issues related to absentee ballots, U.S. citizens can contact Embassy Voting Assistance Officers by emailing BratislavaACS@state.gov. Additionally, consular staff will be available in Kosice on October 8 for routine services, and a U.S. Citizens Town Hall is scheduled for October 7 in Kosice.

Further information on voting from abroad is accessible through the Federal Voting Assistance Program's website at www.FVAP.gov.
