U.S. Marine Corps General Michael Langley, the Commander of U.S. Africa Command, made his third visit to Algeria on January 22, 2025. During this visit, he signed a Military Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Algerian Ministry of National Defense.

The signing took place alongside General Saïd Chanegriha, the Algerian Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff to the National People’s Army.

This agreement signifies a mutual goal between the United States and Algeria to enhance regional and international peace and stability through strategic dialogue.

U.S. Africa Command is one of eleven combatant commands within the U.S. Department of Defense, responsible for operations in 53 African states. The command engages in efforts to counter transnational threats and strengthen security forces across a continent characterized by its diverse ethnic groups, languages, natural resources, and extensive coastlines.
