Finland has officially joined the Artemis Accords, becoming the 53rd nation to sign on January 21, 2025. The signing ceremony took place at Aalto University’s Winter Satellite Workshop. Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman signed the agreement for Finland, with U.S. Embassy Helsinki Chargé d’Affaires Christopher Krafft in attendance.

The Artemis Accords were initiated by the United States and seven other countries in 2020 to establish guidelines for responsible space exploration. Finland's participation highlights a mutual commitment to peaceful and responsible space activities alongside the international community.

The Department of State and NASA are leading efforts in promoting and implementing these accords globally. Finland now joins a diverse group of countries including Angola, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and others who have affirmed their support for sustainable civil space endeavors.
