On September 16, 2014, in New Delhi, Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Kathleen Stephens expressed condolences to the people of Jammu and Kashmir affected by recent flooding. She acknowledged the hundreds of families who have lost loved ones.

Ambassador Stephens announced that the United States plans to contribute $250,000 through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to selected nongovernmental organizations. This initiative aims to address the needs of those impacted by the disaster. The beneficiary organizations include Save the Children India, Care India, and Plan India. These groups will use the funds to provide emergency relief such as temporary shelter and non-food supplies to families in remote villages severely hit by the floods.

Ambassador Stephens emphasized that this support reflects the United States' commitment to assisting flood victims.
