Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Kathleen Stephens expressed condolences to the people of Jammu and Kashmir following recent floods. The disaster has affected many, with hundreds of families losing loved ones.
Ambassador Stephens announced that the United States plans to provide $250,000 in aid through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). This funding will be directed to select nongovernmental organizations, including Save the Children India, Care India, and Plan India. These organizations will deliver emergency relief such as temporary shelter and non-food supplies to families in remote villages impacted by the flooding.
Ambassador Stephens emphasized the United States' commitment to supporting those affected by this natural disaster.
