U.S. Consul General opens new commercial office in Ahmedabad

On June 10, U.S. Consul General Peter Haas inaugurated a new commercial office in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The office will accommodate U.S. Commercial Service staff who aim to connect U.S. companies with Indian counterparts to promote exports from the United States to India and encourage Indian investment in the United States. This development marks a significant enhancement of the U.S. government's presence in Gujarat.

Consul General Haas expressed at the event, “Today’s opening demonstrates the United States’ strong commitment to promoting U.S.-India trade and investment. Opening a new commercial office in Ahmedabad signals that the U.S. government is confident that our bilateral economic relationship will continue to grow for many years to come.”

The initial commercial operation by the U.S. government in Ahmedabad was established in 1997. Over the past 17 years, the U.S. Commercial Service team has facilitated numerous high-level trade missions from the United States to Ahmedabad, recruited Indian buyers for U.S. trade shows, and linked several U.S. and Indian companies to boost imports and exports between both countries. The two-way trade between the United States and India has already exceeded $100 billion annually, nearly double what it was three years ago.
