The 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is underway, running from March 11 to March 22, 2024. The session's priority theme centers on gender equality, poverty, and financing. In line with this focus, the United States plans to outline its initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and enhancing economic security for women and girls. These efforts include strengthening democratic institutions and advocating for universal values and human rights.

As part of CSW68, the U.S. Delegation will host a side event and a high-level meeting. On March 13 at 1 p.m. EDT, a high-level side event titled "Strengthening Women Worker Voice in the Workplace and Beyond as Core to Poverty Reduction and Gender Equality" will take place. This event aims to build on the Biden-Harris Administration’s initiatives to improve women's economic security, empower workers—including care workers—address gender-based violence and harassment, and reinforce unions' roles as essential elements for thriving economies and democracies.

Additionally, the United States will conduct a high-level meeting focused on enhancing women's political participation and leadership in the digital era. This includes tackling technology-facilitated gender-based violence—a significant component of U.S. efforts to bolster democracy and further the Women, Peace, and Security agenda globally. A public readout of this meeting will be available.
