The United Nations Security Council has renewed the mandate of the Sudan Panel of Experts for another 12 months. The decision was welcomed by the United States, which expressed satisfaction with the resolution's adoption.

"This resolution is an important statement underscoring this body continues to support the Panel’s independent reporting to shed light on the spiraling situation in Sudan," a representative from the United States stated. The renewal allows the Panel to compensate for lost time during its previous mandate, which was hindered by ongoing conflict in Sudan.

The U.S. urged both the Sudanese government and relevant parties to facilitate the Panel's efforts to conduct research and interviews within the country over the coming year. The aim is to enable effective action against arms movement into Darfur and contribute towards resolving the conflict.

The United States remains committed to collaborating with and supporting the United Nations in its efforts to promote peace and security in Sudan.
