On October 20, 2014, U.S. Consul General Tom Vajda inaugurated a new American Business Corner in Pune. The facility is situated within the Maharatta Chamber of Commerce, Industries & Agriculture Trade Tower. It aims to connect Pune-based companies with U.S. businesses interested in partnerships. This initiative is designed to promote trade and investment between the United States and India by providing a platform for information exchange and business meetings.

The inauguration event was organized in collaboration with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Pune Chapter. During his speech at the opening ceremony, Consul General Vajda emphasized the significance of this development: “Today’s opening demonstrates the United States’ strong commitment to promoting greater bilateral trade and investment. We hope putting an American Business Corner in Pune signals to the U.S. and Indian business communities that we are confident our economic relationship with western India will continue to grow in the coming years.”

Trade between the United States and India has already exceeded $100 billion annually, nearly doubling from three years prior. The newly established American Business Corner in Pune is expected to further enhance these trade and investment ties, especially within Maharashtra.
