Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Representative to the United Nations, held a meeting with North Korean escapees in Seoul. The session provided an opportunity for the Ambassador to listen to testimonies from these young individuals and understand their initiatives, particularly in digital advocacy, aimed at supporting North Koreans both within and outside the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
The spokesperson for the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, Nate Evans, stated that "for decades the United States has championed efforts to promote and improve respect for the human rights and dignity of North Koreans, including members of the most vulnerable populations, and to promote accountability for the DPRK government concerning its egregious human rights record."
This engagement underscores ongoing efforts by the United States to address human rights issues related to North Korea.
