During an event in New York, the United States Government revealed plans to invest over $13 million in development projects in Ecuador. This announcement was made during the "Democracy Delivers" initiative, which ran alongside the UN General Assembly.
The event was organized by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and USAID Administrator Samantha Power, with support from the Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation. Leaders from nine nations attended, including Ecuador's President Guillermo Lasso.
The United States committed more than $13 million to aid Ecuador's development efforts. The "Democracy Delivers" initiative aims to foster public-private partnerships. At this gathering, several major foundations and corporations pledged over $10 million for initiatives in Ecuador this year. These funds will target climate resilience, economic development, early childhood education, financial services, and job creation for migrants.
