Vice President Mike Pence is set to visit the Middle East this month, representing President Donald Trump. His itinerary includes stops in Egypt, Jordan, and Israel from January 19-23, 2018. The trip aims to address efforts against terrorism and support for persecuted religious minorities.
Pence's journey begins on January 19, with his first destination being Egypt on January 20, where he will meet with President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi. He will then proceed to Jordan on January 21 for discussions with King Abdullah II. In Israel, from January 22-23, Pence will engage in bilateral talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin. Additionally, he plans to speak at the Knesset and visit Yad Vashem as well as the Western Wall.
Alyssa Farah, Press Secretary for the Vice President, stated: “The Vice President is traveling to the Middle East to reaffirm our commitment to work with the United States’ allies in the region to defeat radicalism that threatens future generations.” She added that Pence looks forward to collaborating with leaders of Egypt, Jordan, and Israel on combating terrorism and enhancing national security.
