The U.S. Embassy in Togo hosted a reception led by the new Chargé d’Affaires, Richard C. Michaels, in anticipation of the United States' 249th Independence Day on July 4. During the event, Michaels addressed the temporary suspension of certain visa issuances and emphasized Africa's role as a business partner to the United States.

Michaels expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the success of the celebration, which highlighted the centenary of the Grand Ole Opry and its influence on country music. He extended special thanks to performers Ralicya and Hendrick for their notable contributions.
