The United States has delivered two field hospitals to Ecuador's Ministry of Health, with a total value of $2.1 million. The delivery aims to address the healthcare needs in Alausí, a region affected by ongoing landslides.

These field hospitals can treat up to 80 patients simultaneously and are already operational. From January to April 2024, they have treated an average of 136 people daily across departments including cardiology, general surgery, orthopedic surgery and traumatology, and internal medicine.

The official handover ceremony took place in Quito. Attendees included U.S. Ambassador Michael J. Fitzpatrick; Colonel Jaime Gómez, Defense Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Ecuador; Carlos García from the Humanitarian Assistance Program at the U.S. Embassy; Sara Beatriz Tama, Deputy Minister of Health; Alejandro Dávalos from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Sonia Quezada from PAHO/WHO in Ecuador.
