The United States and Ecuador have formalized an additional $39 million in funding under the Development Assistance Agreement (DOAG). This agreement, originally signed in 2020, was celebrated at a ceremony attended by key officials from both nations.

The funding, provided through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), aims to support several initiatives in Ecuador. These include natural resource conservation, economic recovery, climate change mitigation, humanitarian crisis response, and enhancing citizen security, democracy, and governance. The DOAG was amended in June 2023 to extend its duration until 2030.

"Today, we celebrate a new milestone in our cooperation: the signing of the seventh funding increase to the DOAG between our governments for $39 million. This contribution is part of the United States’ commitment to work for a more democratic, prosperous, and sustainable Ecuador. With this new contribution, the U.S. investment in the well-being of Ecuadorians since 2020 reaches $117.3 million through USAID, reaffirming our dedication to the Ecuadorian people," stated U.S. Ambassador to Ecuador Art Brown during the event.

The signing ceremony was attended by Gabriela Sommerfeld, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Alder Bartlett, USAID Program Director in Ecuador; and other officials. The United States continues to show its commitment to Ecuador through various cooperative efforts and technical assistance aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and contributing positively to regional welfare.
