Superintendent Ms. Hui Yee-wai of the Hong Kong Police Force said that Binance's ongoing collaboration supports efforts to combat digital-era crimes. The statement was made in Hong Kong on December 5.

"We appreciate Binance's long-standing support for Hong Kong law enforcement," said Hui Yee-Wai, according to Binance. "In face of the new challenges of the digital era, the Hong Kong Police Force will continue to enhance its capacity through such public-private partnerships and spare no effort to combat crime and protect the public."

The Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) has commended Binance for its pivotal role in dismantling a multimillion-dollar criminal syndicate involved in fraud and money laundering using virtual assets. In a recent operation, the HKPF arrested several individuals, including the group's leader and key members, with Binance's support being instrumental in the operation's success, according to Binance.

This recognition follows previous collaborations between Binance and the HKPF, including assistance in a kidnapping case where Binance's intelligence analysis was instrumental in identifying suspects. Additionally, according to Binance, it has provided training sessions to various law enforcement units in Hong Kong, such as the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB), Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB), and Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB), to enhance their capabilities in combating cybercrime.

In 2023, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) reported that they received over 1,200 fraud-related banking complaints, more than double the number from 2022. This surge paralleled a 52% increase in deception cases reported to law enforcement in the first ten months of 2023, totaling 33,923 cases with estimated losses of about HK$7.2 billion.

According to the Hong Kong Government Telephone Directory, Superintendent Ms. Hui Yee-wai, also known as Rachel Hui, serves as the Superintendent of the Cyber Intelligence Division within the CSTCB of the Hong Kong Police Force. In this capacity, she oversees initiatives aimed at combating cybercrime and enhancing cybersecurity measures.
