ANZ has announced a $1 million donation to World Vision Australia's India COVID-19 Appeal. The funds aim to support efforts in India by providing beds, oxygen machines, and medical supplies in severely affected areas.

India recently reported 379,257 new infections and 3,645 deaths in one day, marking the highest daily fatalities since the pandemic began. ANZ will also match donations from customers and employees up to an additional $1 million.

Kathryn van der Merwe, ANZ Group Executive Talent and Culture, stated: “Right now we are seeing tragic circumstances in India where COVID-19 is spreading at a frightening rate and ruining far too many lives." She added that as a company with ties to India, they are particularly affected by the crisis.

World Vision Australia CEO Daniel Wordsworth expressed gratitude for ANZ's donation, calling it "an overwhelming gesture of kindness" that reflects the strong relationship between Australia and India. He urged other Australian corporations to show similar support during this humanitarian crisis.

ANZ employees or customers interested in contributing can find more information on how to donate. Note that international donations may incur additional fees.
