Wipro has announced the appointment of Sanjeev Jain as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), succeeding Amit Choudhary. Jain, who joined the company in 2023, will assume his new role following Choudhary's departure.

In his new position, Jain will report to Srinivas Pallia and will continue to serve on Wipro's Executive Committee. With over three decades of experience in team leadership and global operations scaling, Jain brings a wealth of knowledge in Lean Six Sigma and design thinking principles to operations. As the former Global Head of Business Operations at Wipro, he spearheaded various initiatives including talent supply chain management, talent skilling, global mobility, talent acquisition, and business resilience functions. He also managed TopGear, the gig work platform, and played a pivotal role in developing and implementing the company’s artificial intelligence training and upskilling strategy according to a news release dated May 20.

"I am honored and excited to take on the role of Chief Operating Officer. I look forward to further strengthening our operational and delivery capabilities to bring more value to our clients," said Jain. His responsibilities will include overseeing Global Business Operations, the Chief Information Office, the Chief Information Security Office, and Enterprise Risk Management functions.

Pallia praised Jain's contributions saying: "In the short time that Sanjeev has been with Wipro, he has developed strong relationships with on-the-ground delivery teams and made a significant impact on our strategic thinking and execution prowess. Under his leadership, we’ve built out our approach to AI training and upskilling and trained over 225,000 of our people in AI principles. Sanjeev has also been instrumental in devising our career development strategy for next-gen associates and significantly enhancing our utilization. As COO, he will be responsible for continuing to simplify our operating model, building a client-centric delivery organization, and driving operational excellence with a focus on execution rigor and speed."

Wipro's history dates back to 1945 when Mohamedhusain Hasham Premji expanded his father’s grain trade into manufacturing with the establishment of Western India Vegetable Products. The company underwent a significant transformation between 1966 and 1978 under the leadership of Azim H. Premji, who turned it into a brand-oriented company. During this period, the company was formally registered as Wipro. By 2000, Wipro had grown into a billion-dollar company and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Today, its headquarters is located in Bangalore, India.
