At the Seafood Expo North America (SENA) 2024, Australis Aquaculture and Fair Trade USA hosted an event to underscore their partnership. The attendees were given the opportunity to learn about various Better Fish varieties, including Lemon Herb Butter Barramundi, Crispy Barramundi Fish Tenders, and Simply Skinless Barramundi Fillets in the Wavemaker’s Zone.

According to the "story" page on The Better Fish website, Australis founder Josh Goldman developed an aquaponics system in a solar greenhouse during his college years. His vision was to provide sustainable seafood for all. Over a span of three years, he raised more than 30 species of fish and discovered Barramundi. In 2004, Australis Aquaculture was established in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. By 2008, the company had expanded its operations to Van Phong Bay, Vietnam. In 2014, Barramundi became the first ocean-farmed fish to receive the Seafood Watch Best Choice rating. As per the Story page on TheBetterFish.com, Australis was Asia's first Fair Trade Certified fish farm by 2021 and it received recognition from the U.S. Secretary of State through the Award for Corporate Excellence in Climate Innovation.

The Better Fish offers six bagged varieties of Barramundi: skinless to crispy tenders; Tuscan herb and butter; lemon herb butter; garlic teriyaki; and skin-on fillets. These fish are also available at seafood counters.

The SENA is slated for March 10-12 in Boston, Massachusetts. On March 12th, it will be open to attendees from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. According to the schedule page at SeafoodExpo.com, The Wave Makers’ Zone is a designated area where attendees can enjoy on-site experiences such as chef demonstrations, seafood tastings, an oyster shucking competition, and more.
