Greg DiCosola has been appointed as the Senior Vice President of Capital Projects Execution for Fortera, a green cement company. Prior to this role, DiCosola was associated with cleantech company Twelve, which specialized in power-to-liquids and SAF production.

During his tenure at Twelve, DiCosola concentrated on implementing new technology at industrial plants. Earlier, he held the position of Director of Process Engineering and Technology Department at Sacre-Davey Engineering, according to the press release announcing his appointment.
DiCosola expressed his enthusiasm about joining Fortera in a statement issued on January 10. He said, "Joining Fortera is a tremendous opportunity to continue bringing sustainable technology to market at scale. This type of work has been a passion and focus of mine for over 20 years, but there is an urgency now to what we are doing to decarbonize. We have to deploy green technology quickly using infrastructure that is already in place to meet the world's greenhouse gas reduction goals. It is really exciting to be able to utilize new processes on top of conventional, tested processes to create a synergy that will carry us into a zero CO2 future."

Fortera specializes in producing environmentally-friendly cement through its ReCarb process. As per the company’s website, this process leads to zero carbon dioxide cement production. The procedure begins with limestone in a kiln that utilizes carbon dioxide waste and calcium oxide to produce the ReCarb product. This product is then used in creating the company’s ReAct products.

Ryan Gilliam, CEO and co-founder of Fortera emphasized on their commitment towards deploying Fortera’s ReCarb green cement-making technology and commercializing ReAct green cement. He said, "Our focus is on deploying Fortera’s ReCarb green cement-making technology and commercialization of ReAct green cement. Greg’s proven track record of successfully engaging with EPC firms to deploy sustainable technology on an industrial scale makes him an ideal fit to help bring our plants to completion quickly and efficiently. The time for action to decarbonize the cement industry is now, and we are pleased to welcome Greg to Fortera to guide project execution."

According to the press release, Fortera is nearing the completion of a carbon mineralization production plant in California. In collaboration with CalPortland, they aim to produce 15,000 metric tons of low-carbon cement annually.
