Reuters reports that OpenAI recently called Emmett Shear, the former CEO of Twitch, to be the interim chief executive in place of Sam Altman. This change was necessitated due to a controversy surrounding Mr. Altman's exit from the company.

The departure of Sam Altman from OpenAI has sparked notable reactions within the company.
According to a Thomson Reuters article, today, almost every employee of OpenAI has threatened to quit if the board did not re-hire Mr. Altman, the former CEO of OpenAI, and former President Greg Brockman. The formal document containing this demand was signed by OpenAI Chief Scientist Ilya Sutskever, the board member who primarily fired Altman. Sutskever posted on X saying, "I deeply regret my participation in the board's actions. I never intended to harm OpenAI. I love everything we've built together and I will do everything I can to reunite the company." Former board member of OpenAI, Greg Brockman, posted on X on Friday saying that he and Altman were "shocked and saddened by what the board did today."

The issue arose following some allegations about Mr.Altman's conduct as CEO.
According to an article by the New York Intelligencer, Sam Altman, the co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, was fired from his position last Friday due to the fact that he was not completely honest with the company he led. OpenAI said that there was a "deliberative review process by the board which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities." Although this company was considered by numerous people as being at beginning of an AI revolution; they viewed Mr. Altman as someone who "the board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI."

Given the magnitude of the event, let's take a moment to understand the stature of Reuters which first reported it.
