Binance Charity, the philanthropic arm of the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, recently provided an update on its educational initiative with Women in Tech. Binance Charity said the goal of the partnership is to educate women and girls about blockchain technology, providing them with more professional opportunities.
"Our goal is to empower 5 million women and girls by 2039 through blockchain education, regardless of their current skills or background," Binance Charity wrote in a series of tweets. "We're catalyzing a global change, transforming lives one woman at a time."
"Our vision is clear: to drive change, create opportunities, and build a more inclusive tech future. Join us as we shape a new narrative in tech, where every woman has her place," Binance Charity said.
In Brazil, Binance Charity said, "Despite challenges, our resilient participants are reshaping their futures through the power of tech education."
In Burundi, Binance Charity said that after overcoming obstacles related to infrastructure and digital literacy, the program has been successful. "The program's success here reaffirmed our belief in the power of tech education to overcome odds and transform lives," Binance Charity said.
Burundi is one of the poorest countries in the world and has been plagued by civil war between its different ethnic groups, according to the BBC.
Approximately one-third of women in Burundi had completed a lower secondary education as of 2021, according to the World Bank.
Binance Charity called the program a "transformative mission" and said after kicking off in Burundi and Brazil, the initiative has now expanded to locations including Cape Town, Johannesburg, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and Zambia.
Women in Tech said that through its partnership with Binance Charity, women in developing countries will have more opportunities in the job market and will be able to overcome obstacles like poverty.
