Lumen Technologies launched its Edge Bare Metal services in the Asia Pacific region, according to a press release.
"We are excited to bring our edge computing solutions to the fast-growing APAC market. So much here is leading-edge. The region has a strong presence of enterprise customers using blockchain technologies to drive innovation. APAC customers across key industries such as retail, manufacturing and financial services can now deploy applications and workloads that demand ultra-low latency at the edge. Our Lumen services deliver efficient and reliable operations that can keep this momentum going," managing director of Lumen Technologies APAC, Francis Thangasamy, said.
The expansion reflects the company's long-term intention to the company’s pursuit of the region and enterprise innovations and data-intensive applications of the fourth industrial revolution.
Working closely with the Lumen global fibre, Lumen Edge Bare Metal is designed for 5 milliseconds or less latency and ensures secure connectivity and data protection.
“With the ability to run applications and workloads on a unified platform, customers can focus on developing applications rather than on time-consuming infrastructure deployment,” a recent press release explains. “The service will leverage edge locations in Japan and Singapore, as well as Lumen's highly connected network in APAC.”
The company initially deployed the Lumen Edge Bare Metal service in Singapore and Japan, providing high-speed edge computing access to blockchain validators, application programming interface providers and developers around the globe.
The launch joins the company’s existing catalog of services in the region, including the Lumen Edge Private Cloud, with ties to the Lumen global fiber network. The network consists of 643,000 global route kilometers of fiber, including subsea cable networks.
