Grupo Éxito has secured a partnership with Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, based in North Carolina, to help establish self-checkout technology in its stores between the end of 2022 and early 2023, according to a press release.

The integration is the first of its kind to be established by Toshiba in Colombia.

“We are excited to implement the industry-leading Toshiba Self Checkout System 7 solution that is equipped to evolve with the latest retail innovations and developments,” Camilo Gallego, Grupo Éxito’s vice president said. “The system is flexible and easy to use, offering the added convenience of frictionless technology to simplify the self-checkout experience for our consumers. It offers everything we need in one solution.”

Using Toshiba's global commerce solutions, the national grocery store chain will launch the self-checkout registers across all of its subsidiaries, including Éxito, Carulla, Surtimax and Super Inter.  A total of 300 systems will be installed, kicking off at Éxito and Carulla branded stores.

The integration will be made alongside Toshiba’s local business partner, Línea Datascan.

The launch is an extension of the collaboration between Éxito and Toshiba, following a project in 2020, intended to launch touch screens and applications to enhance customers’ experiences with the brand.
