Winnitex announced that it has completed the renewal of the the GOTS/GRS/OCS/RCS certifications for the 12th consecutive year, according Winnitex's website.
Ashok Charles, offshore sourcing director of Winnitex, said the company’s ongoing commitment to renewing these certifications underscores its dedication to sustainability.
"At Winnitex, our longstanding commitment to these certifications demonstrates our prioritization of delivering sustainable products, sourced with sustainable raw materials,” Charles told Globe Banner.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) guarantees that organic fibers were produced in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. OCS (Organic Content Standard) is another guarantee of organic fibers and chain of custody. GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certifies that recycled content was produced in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. RCS (Recycled Claim Standard) is another certification related to recycled content.
Winnitex announced that in August, it became a new member of Cotton Made in Africa (CMIA). The company has long been a member of Cotton, Inc., Cotton USA, SUPIMA, BCI, Cotton Leads, and US Cotton Trust Protocol.
Charles has more than 30 years of experience in sourcing materials and has worked with Winnitex since 1995. Winnitex was founded in Hong Kong in 1964 and is a leading producer of dyed woven fabrics.
