Appian has established a new technology innovation center in Seville, Spain to fulfill the accelerated demand for its low-code platform in Europe, a press release reported.

"We welcome Appian and applaud its decision to establish its first product development team outside the U.S. in the Cartuja Science and Technology Park," minister of economic transformation, industry, knowledge and universities of the Andalusia Government, Rogelio Velasco, said in the release. "Its commitment to our region reaffirms the advantages Andalusia has to offer: A qualified talent pool, prestigious university and an entrepreneurial business ecosystem. This new technology innovation center reaffirms the growth trajectory of the Cartuja Science and Technology Park, which has attracted nine multinational initiatives so far this year alone."

Based at the center of the Cartuja Science and Technology Park, Appian hopes to recruit a local team to better service its slate of customers and partners in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

"Seville provides the ideal environment for Appian to establish its technology hub, grow our team and serve our regional customers and partners," Víctor Ayllón, vice president of automation at Appian, said in the release. "The new Appian office shows our vision for Seville and commitment to the Andalusia region as we plan to double the team here in the next few years. We will continue to work closely with local government authorities, universities and communities to identify, recruit and promote talents in the region."

The launch was celebrated at a ceremony hosted by Appian’s Founder and CEO Matt Calkins and Ayllón, who were joined by delegates from the Regional Government, the Seville City Hall and the Cartuja Science and Technology Park, and other leaders, according to the press release.

Appian initially established its EMEA headquarters in London in 2007 and later launched its first office in Madrid in 2017, but later decided to set foot in Seville in January 2020 upon acquiring a local company, Novayre Solutions. Since then, the global low-code software company has doubled its Spain-based staff. It currently serves a large catalog of multinational financial services companies and a global consulting firm hoping to improve its speed, security and reliability.

To further leverage its global expansion and tech development, Appian has formed a partnership with Fundación Once and PCT Cartuja on the "Digital Talent" project to help people with disabilities improve their work capabilities. The company is also sponsoring 50 individuals in the Sputnik Talent Program and collaborating with institutions in Seville and the Andalucía regions to offer workshops for students and recruit local creatives.
