Tosca recently launched an automated washing center in Dublin.

"Our new washing center in Ireland reflects our dedication to solving some of the most critical matters that the food supply chain faces, such as labor shortages, food safety and environmental impact,” managing director at Tosca in the UK and Ireland, Adrian Dale, said in a press release. “With this new facility, we are pioneering a fully automated center to fulfill the needs of our partners in a sustainable manner."

The new facility, spanning 86,000 square feet, will feature solar panels, LED lighting and sensors intended to help save energy, as well as the capability of processing 5,000 reusable plastic containers per hour, more than twice as many as the standard line can process, a recent press release reveals.

The reusable packaging and pooling solutions company relies solely on artificial intelligence, limiting tasks carried out by humans, promoting automation, which is known to help facilitate supply chain duties and decrease the hardships of appointing and maintaining a respective workforce.

The new establishment will also offer a centrifugal dryer, which helps recycle the components throughout the washing process, and a closing device, guaranteeing requiring labor from less than four people. The method also ensures a higher food-safety environment and less cross-contamination risks.

"The opening of this advanced washing center in Ireland ensures our place on the leading edge of the industry and is future-proofing us to continue providing our partners the high-level service that they need to ensure their supply chain has available, clean RPCs,” COO at Tosca,  Mike Wasson, said in a press release.
