Nextivity, based in San Diego, recently unveiled a Cel-Fi Enterprise Solutions’ partnership with Tura Scandinavia AB, based in Sweden.
The partnership enabled the installation of the first-ever Cel-Fi QUATRA 4000e, a new multi-carrier hybrid active distributed antenna system (DAS) in Elgiganten and Rusta stores in Stockholm, according to a March 15 press release. The companies hope to enhance cellular connectivity in stores across Europe.
“Tura Scandinavia is a strong strategic partner for Nextivity, bringing our best-in-class cellular coverage solutions to the reseller community,” says David Cabanes, Nextivity vice-president of European sales, in the release. “With product offerings now available for enterprise, small and mid-size businesses, mobile, and micro solutions, we look forward to continuing to work with Tura Scandinavia to help their partners expand their capabilities and market reach.”
The multi-carrier hybrid active DAS grants customers access to quality cell phone reception while inside a building, the release stated.
“As Cel-Fi QUATRA is 5G-ready, building owners get a greater return on their investment with this modern solution which is upgradable,” said Sverre Platou, Nextivity brand manager at Tura Scandinavia, in the release. “The system is also all-digital, using ethernet rather than coax cabling, which makes installation easier and reduces the installation cost to about a quarter of traditional repeater systems.”
Cell reception was difficult for many to find while shopping at stores in Sweden as many commercial structures are made of metal, said Terje Skatterod, senior technology officer at Tura Scandinavia.
“Cel-Fi QUATRA has improved the signal inside the stores by 25 decibel-milliwatts, which is equivalent to increasing the coverage by almost 100 times,” Skatterod said.
The new development has begun making its way through the EMEA market, as retailers in Sweden, as well as other European countries, are interested in the service, the release stated.
“Cel-Fi QUATRA is starting to get a lot of attention in the Nordic region,” Skatterod said. “Unlike other equipment, you don't need the RF skills to install it. You can simply use a local electrician to run the cabling and hook it up to the internet, and one telecom RF engineer to deploy the whole solution remotely.”
Tura Scandinavia was ranked as the top European distributor in 2021 by Nextivity, according to the release. The company will help distribute the cost-effective, carrier approved and network safe cellular option across Europe.
