California-based Paramount Pictures and JAKKS Pacific have partnered with Sega of America in Japan to launch a toy and costume line of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 products.
Craig Drobis, senior vice president of marketing at JAKKS Pacific Inc., said the movie would include an array of products to celebrate its release.
“JAKKS Pacific is proud to celebrate the release of the new feature film ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ with an all-new line of memorabilia commemorating the Blue Blur’s next great adventure,” Drobis said in a release. “With new waves of collectible action figures, cool new playsets, multiple sizes of plush toys and an all-new radio-controlled Sonic Speed RC, there is something for every Sonic fan and collector.
Products are expected to debut this spring and will include plush toys, action figures and Sonic Speed RC sets, with the movie set to premiere in the fall, a release stated.
“We’ve seen such a great response from fans to the Sonic the Hedgehog products created by JAKKS Pacific, and we’re thrilled to continue working with them to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” Alex Gomez, director of licensing and partnerships for Sonic the Hedgehog, said. “We hope that fans of the Blue Blur will see the collection as a testament of our appreciation and create memorable Sonic experiences with the products for years to come.”
Santa Monica, California-based JAKKS Pacific, an entity of Disguise, is a developer of toy products that are purchased across the world and promises to make Sonic the Hedgehog products available online or in retail stores throughout the country, a release stated.
Disguise “continues to own the licensed costume space” and is expected to roll out more lines annually with “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” expected to bring a memorable cast of characters, a release stated.
