A leader in cyber resilience for corporations, Semperis, announced Jan. 18 international expansion of its Active Directory (AD) solutions to Australia and New Zealand.
The company, based in New Jersey, plans to bring a cyber resiliency team to Melbourne, Australia, a company press release stated.
The expansion is intended to help fight ransomware attacks, which can cost companies up to $1.85 million, Business Wire reported.
“Active Directory is the backbone of 90% of organizations globally, yet it is something of a treasure trove to cybercriminals,” Regional Director of Semperis in Australia and New Zealand Lou Talevski said, in the release. “Compromising Active Directory spells critical losses in downtime for the organization, disruption, revenue loss, compromised data and reputational damage. I am excited to join Semperis, which offers the most comprehensive Active Directory solution on the market, to harden organizations’ cybersecurity resilience at such a critical time in the war against cybercrime.”
An increasing number of organizations based in Australia and New Zealand have become vulnerable to cyber-attacks, according to the release.
The Australian Cyber Security Centre received 67,500 cybercrime reports from 2020-2021, Business Wire reported.
“Active Directory is notoriously difficult to keep secure," Semperis Senior Solutions Architect Michael Choo said in the release. "Even large organizations with significant investments in security resources are failing to close critical gaps in Active Directory. Often the vital nature of directories is only realized after an attack. If critical systems like identity management become compromised, business operations can come to a standstill. Semperis exists because a traditional castle-and-moat approach to network security leaves organizations exposed because cybercriminals can easily compromise Active Directory. Organizations must be able to ensure their directory services are secure on a continual basis.”
