JetBlue and American Airlines recently announced additional flights out of New York and Boston through its Northeast Alliance (NEA).

New York and Boston passengers traveling through the NEA will have more options for new routes, improved schedules and enhanced product offerings, according to a Dec. 16 news release. Nine new routes went on sale in December 2021.

"A new year brings new opportunities for the Northeast Alliance to add more JetBlue flying in New York and Boston and to deliver on the customer benefits we’ve promised since first announcing this innovative partnership," said JetBlue president and chief operating officer Joanna Geraghty in the release. "As we look ahead, the NEA is poised to deliver incredible growth, which will bring more of our award-winning service and low fares to travelers in the Northeast as, together with American, we create a true third competitor in the region."

The NEA will offer up to 300 daily departures, with JetBlue operating 195 flights, through New York's JFK Airport. In addition to JetBlue's new Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, service, the airline will also add stops on existing routes out of JFK. Some of those destinations will feature multiple daily stops Aruba, Atlanta, Cancun, Mexico, Detroit and Guayaquil, Ecuador.

American Airlines is also expected to enhance its global reach in 2022 with nonstop service between New York's JFK Airport and Doha, Qatar’s Hamad International Airport, the release stated. That addition would make American Airlines the only U.S.-based carrier to serve the Middle Eastern destination.

With the added routes, JetBlue and American Airlines are on pace for a record-setting year, according to the release.

"As we welcome customers back to travel, the Northeast Alliance is delivering on promises to offer customers more choices and travel benefits," American Airlines President Robert Isom said. "We're excited to offer our New York and Boston customers even more frequencies and even more destinations when they travel next year."
