Financial services company WEX has named Karen Stroup as chief digital officer and Carlos Carriedo as chief operating officer, international, a news release said.
“Looking ahead to 2022, Karen and Carlos will be instrumental in expanding our global footprint and optimizing digital solutions for customers around the world,” Melissa Smith, chair and chief executive officer at WEX, said in a statement. “As seasoned innovation and international professionals, both executives will enhance our global competitive position by focusing on WEX’s strategic growth and international collaboration initiatives. I look forward to partnering with them as we continue to grow our business.”
Stroup is the company’s first chief digital officer. Her role will be to advance digital commerce and product development opportunities throughout the company.
She was previously chief digital officer at Thomson Reuters.
Carriedo, who will lead the company’s strategic growth internationally, most recently worked at American Express and was general manager of commercial services in Europe.
"Carriedo has more than two decades of experience leading global business growth through multinational innovation and digital transformation initiatives," the news release said. "Most recently, he worked at American Express as the general manager of commercial services for Europe, and he also served as chairman of American Express Bank of Russia."
WEX, headquartered in Portland, ME, provides payment solutions to businesses. It has offices in 14 countries and approximately 5,400 employees, the news release said.
