IMDb has unveiled its list of the most anticipated movies and TV series for 2022, analyzing page views of more than 200 million monthly visitors to its webpage.

In a Dec. 15 release, IMDb Chief Operating Officer Nikki Santoro said IMDb makes it easy to rack upcoming movies and TV shows through the website’s personalized watchlist feature and allows users to explore content across streaming services through the IMDb streaming guides and editorial picks.

“With so many great movies and series coming our way in 2022, fans can rely on IMDb to help them discover and decide what to watch,” Santoro said in the release. “Bats (The Batman), dragons (House of the Dragon), and Richmond Greyhounds (Ted Lasso) have a stronghold on IMDb fans who are eagerly anticipating new installments of their favorite franchises."

The top five most anticipated movies include “The Batman,” “Scream,” “Thor: Love and Thunder,” “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Killers of the Flower Moon,” IMDb reports. Among new series, the top choices include, “House of the Dragon,” “The Lord of the Rings,” “Pam & Tommy,” “The Sandman” and “The Last of Us,” while users anticipate the return of favorites such as “Ted Lasso,” “Bridgerton,” “American Horror Story,” “Peaky Blinders” and “The Mandalorian.”

According to the release, these titles are derived based on the series that consistently ranked highest on the IMDbPro proprietary weekly TV rankings throughout 2021, based on page views. IMDb, an Amazon company, offers users 25 filters and 11 professional name pages to connect customers with the most appropriate creatives in the industry, the release states. The Pro version of the system offers more than 25,000 in-development film and TV titles not available on the traditional IMDb site.
