Mastercard makes leadership changes to 'deliver meaningful results'

Mastercard announced several international leadership changes Dec. 7.

The changes are designed to help the company achieve strategic objectives that were established at its latest investor community conference, according to a Businesswire press release.

Gilberto Caldart, currently president of International Markets at Mastercard, has been appointed vice-chair of Senior Client Partnerships and Relationships, while Raghu Malhotra and Ling Hai, have been named co-presidents of Mastercard's International Markets.

The newly appointed executives will assume their positions Jan. 1.

“This evolution of our leadership team reinforces the strength of our people across the organization and around the world,” Michael Miebach, president and CEO of Mastercard said in the release, “Each of these leaders have unique skills and experiences, making them well-equipped to navigate an ever evolving and complex world full of opportunities. They bring commitment and drive to deliver meaningful results and real-world solutions for our customers. I look forward to their partnership.”

The changes in leadership will help the company expand its activities throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Dimitrios Dosis will serve as president of a newly restructured Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EEMEA) region, which covers 81 countries with high-potential development possibilities as part of Mastercard's International Markets reorganization.

Yasemin Bedir, who currently serves as executive vice president for Processors and Community Institutions in the United States, will oversee the newly formed Turkey and Commonwealth of Independent States (Turkey & CIS) division, which will report to Dosis.

Ari Sarker, who now serves as co-president of Asia Pacific, will assume sole leadership of the region.

Sarker will be responsible for managing the region's activities, which include business strategy and operations, sales and marketing, as well as contacts with governments, banks, and merchants.

Linda Kirkpatrick will continue to serve as president of Mastercard's North American operations, while Carlo Enrico will remain president of Mastercard's Latin American operations.

Mark Barnett will remain president of Mastercard's operations in Europe.
