WomanCare Global Trading CIC has initiated a partnership with Pregna International Ltd. in its efforts to increase the availability of intrauterine contraceptives worldwide, a news release said. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) distributor has established its presence in over 100 countries.

Their new launch is intended to serve as a solution to the many women who faced limited contraceptive methods amid the pandemic due to supply chain disruptions, according to the release. The catalog includes contraceptive implants, injectables, condoms and various oral contraceptives. This comes along with other innovative contraceptive methods yet to be revealed.

“Assembling a diverse yet comprehensive product portfolio is very important to us and to our customers," Jacques-Antoine Martin, managing director of DKT WomanCare, said. "Including IUDs alongside any other high-quality contraceptives bolsters the value we bring to customers by giving them simple, streamlined access to high-quality products at good prices. Our goal is to make the DKT WomanCare platform the place for family planning programs to procure contraceptive products.”

DKT WomanCare sold nearly 2.2 million contraceptive implants in 2020 alone, the news release said.

Commenting on their partnership, Mukul Taparia, managing director of Pregna Ltd., said, “Pregna and DKT have a long history together, and this partnership is an extension of our mutual trust. This partnership synergizes on the respective strengths of our two organizations: Through DKT WomanCare, we are reaching new countries, new customer channels, and in turn, more women. Pregna has always valued helping women live healthier, more fulfilling lives, and this partnership shows that commitment.”

Pregna was founded in 1991 and its contraceptives, including the Eloira uterine system, have since reached over 140 countries across the globe. Their products are prequalified by the World Health Organization.

“This initiative is a win-win,” Martin said, “for both organizations as we leverage each other’s strengths and help women and girls around the world improve their lives.”
