A Baltimore-Washington, D.C.-based cybersecurity company will expand operations into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in order to provide companies in the region the capabilities to adequately reply to threats, a press release said.

Dragos Inc. announced this week services for its industrial control systems (ICS)/operational technology (OT) environments in the UAE will also develop and train ICS/OT cybersecurity talent in the region to provide global customer success.

Robert M. Lee, chief executive officer and co-founder of Dragos Inc., said the company made the move because the area is a digital hotbed where the company could provide cybersecurity infrastructure.

“Many industrial organizations in the UAE are leading the way with digital transformation and recognizing that ICS/OT cybersecurity is more critical than ever in a hyperconnected world,” Lee said. “We are excited to make ICS/OT cybersecurity expertise and technology more accessible to organizations in the UAE as well as to partner with organizations and local ICS/OT cybersecurity practitioner communities here to help grow a needed pool of talented cybersecurity practitioners.”

The operations link with the UAE’s cybersecurity strategy was drafted by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority and will help reduce the plant operating threats and advance security in the region, according to a news release.

“Within the UAE, Dragos is already protecting the industrial environments of a number of companies, enabling them to maintain comprehensive asset visibility, assess OT-specific threats and vulnerabilities, and respond to threats based on the latest threat intelligence,” the news release said. “Their use of Dragos allows them to minimize risk to plant operations and improve security, while also meeting regulatory compliance requirements.”

Dragos Inc. will open its new office in the UAE during the first quarter of 2022.
