'Important milestone': Miro opens up Tokyo office, continues global expansion

Miro, a company that offers online whiteboard solutions for virtual team collaboration, announced a new office in Tokyo, Japan, as a continuation of efforts to increase its global presence. 

“Miro’s expansion into Japan is an important milestone for our company," Andrey Khusid, co-founder and CEO of Miro, said, "We are now 10 years into our journey and looking forward to supporting new business innovation for the millions of customers and users we have in Japan.”

According to a press release, the hypergrowth startup will keep building on Miro's success as it expands the company's team to more than 1,500 employees in the next six months, 

"Miro now supports over 25 million users around the globe and over 100,000 customer organizations, including 95% of the Fortune 100 and 50% of the TOPIX 100." the press release said. "Miro’s Tokyo hub will dedicate itself to local enterprise customers and bring over 100 jobs to the city in the next three years. In total, Miro now operates with more than 1,000 employees in 11 hubs around the world." 

The global expansion is one component of a growth plan that the company has had in the works for years now. Recently, the company hosted an annual virtual user conference wherein Chief Product Officer Varun Parmar announced a new tool called Miro Smart Meetings, which will provide organizations and businesses with the powerful tools they need to facilitate collaboration and teamwork in an engaging and efficient way. 

As the press release said, Miro considers its expansion into Japan to be "a reflection of its deep commitment to understanding and solving the complex challenges that accompany a new era of hybrid work. Miro’s three-year growth objectives for Japan include serving 5 million users and 10,000 customer organizations, including 95% of the TOPIX 100. The company also aims to build a thriving Japanese user community, including customers, partners and experts, similar to what has successfully been established in the United States and Europe."
