KnowWake recently announced plans to expand its waterway navigation app to include Australia, according to a press release.

To date, the company has expanded the app to include six states and two territories in Australia including New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia, the Australian Capital Territory, and the Northern Territory.

"Officially available in Australia and New Zealand!" KnowWake wrote in a Nov. 16 Facebook post.

The announcement of a new customer base follows similar expansions in the United Kingdom (UK).

"We've had many requests to add Australia and New Zealand to the chart and we're happy to be formally established in the region," Dan Karsko founder of KnowWake said, in the press release. "There's also a lot of new features perfect for getting connected this summer like finding friends, creating groups, and sharing a location."

There are approximately 2.5 million boaters or "boaties" in Australia, according to Australia's Boating Industry Association (BIA) 2021 reports. The BIA reports that the country has more than 925,000 registered boats, paddle crafts, and sailing dinghies and that 85% of Australia's fleet include boats under 6 meters.
