RingCentral Inc. announced a partnership with Mitel aimed at strengthening its Message Video Phone (MVP) cloud communications platform.

As part of its deal with Mitel, a global leader in business communications, RingCentral will oversee a customer base of more than 35 million users within its cloud communication, video meeting, collaboration and contact center solution enterprise, according to BusinessWire.

In order to help develop the MVP platform, Mitel has committed to investing $200 million on RingCentral, according to BusinessWire. As part of the partnership, RingCentral will reimburse Mitel's funding by paying $650 million in order to obtain Mitel's network and management operations, in addition to its business infrastructure.

“We are excited to bring the market-leading UCaaS solution to our customers and channel partners with RingCentral as our exclusive UCaaS partner,” said Tarun Loomba, the newly appointed president and chief executive officer at Mitel, according to BusinessWire. “The unique depth of this partnership furthers our strategy of delivering world-class communications to our customers and providing them a clear and flexible path for the future.”

Created by RingCentral, CloudLink is an innovative cloud platform that allows customers to combine their on-premises infrastructure with newer cloud applications, according to BusinessWire. Under the new partnership with Mitel, customers will be able to leverage their existing on-premises PBX capabilities via the RingCentral application in order to provide an easy, highly differentiated transition path to full cloud adoption.
