Financial software and service provider Intuit recently announced it has completed a deal to acquire marketing platform Mailchimp, according to a press release.

Through the partnership, the companies will work to strengthen systems intended to help clients manage their business operations and relationships digitally, analyze improvement data, manage payments, and ensure compliance of business requirements.

The idea for the partnership came from the companies' ability to help businesses through pandemic-related challenges and attract clients and employees.

"The combination of Mailchimp and QuickBooks together will create a robust engine for small and mid-market success," Alex Chriss executive vice president and general manager of Intuit’s Small Business and Self-Employed Group said, in the release. "With Mailchimp and QuickBooks combined, our customers can leverage their purchase data to glean better insights about how and who to market to so they can grow their businesses."

After testing a one-way integration strategy developed by QuickBooks Online and Mailchimp in July, the companies managed to import more than 400,000 QuickBooks customer contacts into Mailchimp accounts.

"Over the past 20 years, Mailchimp has been on a tremendous journey empowering small businesses to grow," Ben Chestnut Mailchimp co-founder and CEO said in the release. "Joining Intuit is like a mid-air refueling that will allow us to accelerate our shared mission and help our customers prosper. I can't wait to co-pilot this next leg of our journey."
