Healthcare company Babylon announced Oct. 18 it is collaborating with technology giant Microsoft in an effort to improve the overall healthcare experience for patients and providers.

According to a release by Babylon, the goal is to shift the focus from sick care to preventative care, while also focusing on accessibility, affordability and quality. Babylon’s first move was to introduce digital health software solutions and cloud services available on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, which allows both payers and providers to access Babylon’s Symptom Checker and Healthcheck, which are artificial intelligence powered.

"Babylon and Microsoft working together shows our combined commitment to build on our leading-edge digital health technologies and deliver better access and greater affordability for health systems and patients alike", said Babylon CEO Ali Parsa. "We share the same vision of healthcare and believe that by bringing our assets together we can further the digital health revolution, offer immediate access to all-in-one personalized care and we can enhance the consumer experience, improve patient outcomes and reduce overall costs.”

Tom McGuinness, corporate vice president of Global Healthcare and Life Sciences at Microsoft, said he looks forward to the collaboration, adding it will allow the companies to build on and improve capabilities.

Babylon serves more than 24 million people in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. In 2020, Babylon helped a patient every five seconds. The Marketplace reaches more than 4 million people monthly across 140 regions, according to the release.
