Udemy, an online learning and teaching marketplace, released its September 2021 Workplace Learning Skills Index this week, identifying the most in-demand skills in the workplace.
In a release Oct. 6, Udemy Virtual Teams instructor Hassan Osman gave a response to the surge of “Hybrid Teams” course consumption, as the index cited the soft skill as one of the top surging technical skills.
“Leaders should avoid a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach with hybrid work models,” Osman said in the release. “What works for Team A might be different than what works for Team B, and that’s okay. Organizations are not going to have one solution that covers everyone equally and the top priority of a hybrid leader should be to make sure all employees are treated fairly.”
The learning index report for September analyzes the skills requested by Udemy's business platform users, consisting of thousands of customers worldwide, the release states.
The highest technical skills noted in the report, alongside hybrid teams, include Microsoft SC-900 proficiency, the ability to operate Oracle ERP and soft skills such as conversation and coaching skills.
Demand for the company's Functional Programming course rose by 148% in Germany and 84% in South Korea, followed by a Personal Productivity course, which saw a 469% increase in Japan and 166% increase in Brazil, according to the release.
