UTime Limited secured a deal with the People's Government of Jiangnan District in China's Nanning City and United Time Technology Co. to establish a production line of smart telecom devices in the region.
In a release Oct. 6, the company reported an expected investment of $7.7 million to build and operate the Nanning Production Base in China.
“We are committed to providing the most cost-effective mobile devices to consumers and dedicated to help people from emerging markets to have a better access to the most updated mobile technology," the company website said.
According to the release, the base will focus on the creation of surface mount lines, eight mobile phone assembly lines and between two and three wearable production lines spanning 20,000 square meters.
The new establishment will help reduce costs, increase efficiency and strengthen the company's research and development capabilities, though the original intention was to develop UTime’s new generation of smart devices, the release states.
Alongside the mobile phones, a collection of smart wearable devices is also in the works at the new UTime production site. In exchange, the Jiangnan Government will provide economic incentives to support the Nanning Production Base.
