Intermedia Cloud Communications, a leading cloud communications provider, has opened a new office in Japan to support its growing market. The office will operate as Intermedia Technologies Japan G.K., and work with partner NEC.
"UCaaS (unified communications as a service ) and CCaaS (contact center as a service) are first being introduced to the Japanese market, so we believe that the opportunity is significant. When you combine NEC's tremendous brand recognition throughout the world, along with their significant existing Japanese customer base, NEC is well-positioned to become a dominant cloud communications provider here," said Makoto Omi, Intermedia Japan president. "NEC partnered with Intermedia because of the innovative technology, expertise, and partner-first approach we bring to the world of the cloud. This new office puts us right in the middle of the NEC Japanese partner community, and we are excited to support NEC as they sell and deploy Univerge Blue."
The expansion will tap into one of the world's largest global communications markets following the success of other global launches, including Univerge Blue in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., the Netherlands, Italy, and Australia.
The Japan-based office is expected to strengthen the strategy for marketing and product materials, sales support and carrier relations in the region. It will also provide Tier 2 technical support.
The new office is designed to solidify the company's partnership with NEC, which serves as one of Japan's market share leaders in on-premises telephony systems.
