Israeli technology company accessiBe, which specializes in products and services that make the internet more accessible to the disabled, is opening an office in midtown Manhattan, it announced in a news release.
"Since accessiBe launched just over three years ago, we have been rapidly expanding to accommodate the increasing interest in our products and services," Shir Ekerling, CEO of accessiBe, said in the release. "We're excited by our continued growth and looking forward to bringing on new members to join our exceptional team. A natural extension to our existing commitment is hiring even more talent from the disability community. This is the obvious focus for us in the near future."
The New York offices will "help support accessiBe's rapid growth, having reached the significant milestone of employing more than 100 people since its launch in early 2018, with expectations to double this to about 200 employees by the end of next year," the company said. It plans to also double the number of number of disabled employees in positions including customer service, customer success, partnership managers, and tech support.
Growth has been fueled by a new professional services department, an accessibility testing and remediation platform and an an accessibility online learning and education platform.
The company has attracted $28 million in investments, according to the release.
"With another funding soon to be announced, the company aims to invest in raising global awareness towards a more accessible and inclusive internet and in solving the web accessibility gap through advanced technologies, tools and services to ultimately achieve its vision of making the internet accessible for people with disabilities by 2025," the company said.
