Breakthru Beverage names new CEO, citing 'his transparent, compassionate, inspirational leadership'

One of the top alcoholic beverage distributors in North America has appointed Tom Bené as the president and CEO of the company, effective Oct. 4. 

Bené will join Breakthru Beverage Group, which has multiple offices in the U.S. and Canada, after his many years of service to Sysco Corporation, the largest foodservice distributor in the world, where he served as CEO and chairman for eight years. 

“I’m very excited to join Breakthru at such an important time for the company,” Bené said in a press release. "Breakthru’s strong positioning in the marketplace provides a springboard to accelerate growth. I look forward to working with the board of managers and the company’s talented leadership team and associates to capture the many opportunities ahead and exceed expectations for our suppliers and customers 

Bené has over 30 years of leadership experience.

"Tom has a demonstrated history of leading organizations through periods of exceptional growth and innovation. His transparent, compassionate and inspirational leadership style struck us immediately, and we’re excited for him to continue building Breakthru’s culture of excellence and inclusivity."

Bené worked for PepsiCo for 23 years, where he served in roles including president of PepsiCo Foodservice and president of PepsiCo North American Beverages. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Kansas.

Breakthru is the largest alcoholic beverage distributor in Canada.
