Atlanta-based Liberty Defense will soon begin offering its concealed weapon and threat detection systems in European airports.
The Atlanta-based company is set to deploy its HEXWAVE method, consisting of 3-D imaging devices to scan travelers for "metallic and non-metallic threat objects." Millions of dollars have been invested in the growth of the innovative technology.
Initially, financial support was rendered by the Department of Homeland Security, while the Israel Ministry of Public Security is tasked with the software’s development and expansion, Global Atlanta reports.
The expansion was also aided by N4R B.V., a consultancy in the Netherlands, led by Gunther van Adrichem, who made large contributions to the introduction and the dispersion of passenger screening, such as the baseline for Hexwave products, the millimeter-wave. Liberty’s President and CTO, Mike Lanzaro has worked alongside the veteran aviation managing director and strategic advisor for two decades.
“Gunther was instrumental in deploying the first-millimeter wave passenger screening technology in Europe,” Lanzaro said. “Gunther’s vision for next-generation security applications is a perfect fit for Liberty as we advance our product portfolio for commercial and aviation applications.”
The company recently launched a federally-funded project to incorporate Israeli-based Levitection’s system into HeXWAVE to function as an early warner. The $1 million allocated to the program was distributed through the BIRD Foundation, funded by the DHS and the Israel Ministry of Public Security.
