Vuzix Corporation recently announced it is expanding the presence of its Global Smart Glasses in Canada.
The company has entered into a deal to sell its Vuzix M400 Smart Glasses to TeleVU Innovation, a Canadian supplier of communication solutions for smart glasses that can be used to provide an audio-visual connection between frontline health care workers and and remote experts, Vuzix said in a press release.
"We are pleased to work together with TeleVU to support their expanding telemedical usage across North America," Paul Travers, Vuzix president and CEO, said in the release.
TeleVU will use the glasses for remote health care applications including home care, first responder support, hospital care, medical education, medical proctorship and mobile crisis response. Medical proctorship is when a doctor observes and evaluates the performance of another doctor.
"Vuzix M400 Smart Glasses, with their hands-free, voice-activated operation and studio quality 4K video streaming, represent an ideal hardware platform for an expansive range of telemedicine applications," Travers said.
Vuzix attended a Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference in Las Vegas on August 9-13 with TeleVU to showcase its smart glasses solutions.
Founded in 1997 and based out of Rochester, N.Y., Vuzix specializes in manufacturing and supplying smart glasses and other innovative augmented reality (AR) products for both consumer and enterprise markets.
The company holds 210 patents, patents pending and numerous IP licenses in the video eyewear field.
